The "Busies"

Well, as many of you may have noticed, I have not blogged in over three weeks! I have had a serious case of the "busies". So what are the "busies", you ask? The "busies" are when you let the world creep in on you. School, kids, housework, business, added commitments, it doesn't seem to end! You rationalize in your mind that God understands that you are busy. Your quiet time is shorter and you start to move away from where you know you need to be. The "busies" drive a wedge between you and the Lord. You tell yourself that God is first in your life, but your actions tell a different story.

The truth is that when you get "the busies" (like me!) you need God more than ever. I am finding that when I crowd God out of my life because of the "busies" everything starts to fall apart. I worry, I am anxious, my kids become anxious, everything just seems HARD. The Word tells us in Psalm 55:22 that he will carry our load:

"Cast your burden on the Lord,

and he will sustain you;

he will never permit

the righteous to be moved."

So why do we try to carry it on our own? I guess it is just human nature, it is the way of the world.

Are you a mom that feels overwhelmed by all that you need to accomplish? Are you realizing today that you are suffering from a case of the "busies"? Are you letting God take a back seat to all you have to do? Today, join me in slowing down, putting the Lord back in his rightful place- at the top! He will help you carry your load, just as he has done and continues to do for me!
